Decentralized Science (DeSci) represents a socio-technological movement, building on technological and infrastructural advancements such as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), Web3, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). It fosters permissionless, open, and inclusive participation in scientific collaboration by enabling collective governance, equitable incentivization, unrestricted access, shared ownership, and transparent funding in scientific processes. In just 5 minutes, this talk will give a whirlwind tour of the problems in today’s scientific ecosystem and the solutions emerging from decentralized tools and communities. From tokenized funding to on-chain lab and patient data, we’ll explore how DeSci enables faster, more transparent, and more inclusive science.
