Rollups play a crucial role in Ethereum’s scaling, but while they have rapidly diversified, they also face the challenge of ecosystem fragmentation. This session will explore two key approaches—shared sequencers and base rollups—clarifying their respective goals and differences.

We will further discuss major challenges such as incentive alignment for rollup operators and the overall coherence of the ecosystem, examining how these issues might be solved and whether the costs of doing so are just

We will further discuss major challenges such as incentive alignment for rollup operators and the overall coherence of the ecosystem, examining how these issues might be solved and whether the costs of doing so are justified by the benefits. Ultimately, this session will ask whether the future of L2s lies in convergence into “one” or in continued evolution while preserving diversity, offering critical insights into the direction of Ethereum’s scaling.
